Some people are disdainful of being spiritual for a month and then going back to 'normal', and I use the word in inverted commas because normal is so subjective. I think it's better to attempt being reflective than not to observe at all. Every little bit of effort brings us closer to understanding and appreciation. It would behove us to remember that a lack of judgement too can be spiritual. Ok, that's my rant for the day. On to the business at hand. It's customary to spend Ramadaan abstaining from the usual pleasures but if you, like me, struggle to go a whole month without stepping out, then you'll be relieved to know there are several options for having Iftaar out and still observing your obligations for the month.
