At a certain time in my life travel was not only a huge priority but also a huge possibility. I took every chance I could to see somewhere else in the world or the country. Show's like the Getaway show had real value for someone like me taking every opportunity to traipse all over the place. So yesterdays venture to this show was more for the sake of nostalgia than anything else. Why? Cos that's the sobering effect of having a baby. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade motherhood for anything in the world but until my little guy is at least 5 years old travelling is that much more challenging.

Held at the Lourensford Wine Estate and set against the backdrop of the Hottentots Holland mountains, the Getaway Show Cape Town has to be one of the most picturesque festivals/expos I have ever been to. Held over the weekend we only managed to make it to the Sunday leg of the show. Even on this last day the show was packed. However, the grounds are huge and the show is split into various tents where exhibitors are housed and outdoor sections for the bigger or more outdoorsy vendors, so you never feel crowded. Parking is vast on a lawned section  of the grounds divided by a tree lined road from the expo grounds. It is very well organized with marshals braving the sun guiding you into the parking areas. It's a bit rugged but if you're taking your little one a solid stroller will manage just fine.
